THE PROBLEM

Globally, there’s a lack of access to quality tools and devices that support people living with disabilities. In fact, more than 1 billion people need assistive technology, yet only 1 in 10 has access to the technology they need.

THE REASON

Many assistive technology products don't reach  the market due to the high production cost, compared to the small potential market they serve.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY
DESIGN

Assistive technology devices are crucial to help people participate in society and access essential social services. In the case of people with special needs, the average design is not enough.

MANUFACTURING

Design for special needs requires special manufacturing methods and customization abilities.

  • 3D Printing

  • Laser Cutting

  • Sheet Metal

  • CNC Milling

  • Vacuum Forming

  • Injection Molding

  • Casting

  • Textile

FROM TRADITIONAL TO DIGITAL MANUFACTURING

Most of the assistive technologies need to be customized and made by hand, requiring expansive labor ending with high costs.

I specialize in transforming traditionally crafted products into digital manufacturing by developing parametric designs, suitable for digital manufacturing. Digital manufacturing can reduce human labor and provide a higher-quality end product. To make the most of the transforming every session includes:

  • Parametric design

  • Technology Adoption for:

    • 3D Printing

    • Laser Cutting

    • Sheet Metal

    • CNC Milling

    • Vacuum Forming

FROM IDEA TO MANUFACTURING

Many assistive technology products don’t reach  the market, due to the high production cost, compared to the small potential market they serve.

Digital manufacturing provides a unique opportunity to produce low volume and customizable products with industrial quality both for validation and manufacturing. This method allows our products to be the first at the market.

RESEARCH AND PRAXIS

Researching and praxis of design and digital manufacturing technologies afford me new design skills, giving me the ability to create wise solutions for complex problems. Understanding the need for assistive technology inspired me, and I would like to inspire many others to design tools for people with special needs.
