THE GENERATOR

Generator: Create, Produce, Form (and in Hebrew also - Dance).

The Generator brings together traditional design, craft and edge technologies, using Digital manufacturing. The technological incubator examines relations between design and technology: How does technology affect design processes and how does the designer can adapt technology and its manifestation in the final product?

The manufacturing process begins with a seven-axis milling machine Robot. Complex processing methods create a variety of textures on the material, providing for each creature a different character.

The design of the original 3D model was identical and smooth, with no textures applied. The textures are the outcome of different paths and movements of the robot. This way, we were able to create a variety of textures and a different character for each final model which was originally the same. In addition, this method of production shorten the working time and made manufacturing process more efficient.

A second robot assembles the toys, throughout the fair, and marks the products with its own signature through a stroke of a brush and some paint (see the video above).
